10 Things I do to save $

1. I try to ONLY buy sale items
2. I use coupons and use them in conjunction with sales so that i save the most amount of money
3. I make almost everything from scratch, with the occasional box of mac and cheese or cake mix but mostly i make it all
4. I give away toys to friends and family who are in need when i feel like we have too many
5. I budget every month
6. I do not often buy my kids things during trips to target- instead they r allowed to carry one item around, play with it and then nicely ask the cashier to return it to the toy section
7. I make some of my own cleaners... but im a sucker for METHOD brand, they just smell so good.. enough to get me excited about cleaning - for a short while
8. I buy my kids clothes 1 season ahead off the clearance racks from the previous season
9. I have my own veggie garden, good for easy things like tomatoes, herbs, peas, lavendar, onions, chives etc
10. AVOID the stores lol

Kids PlayDoh

i LOVE this recipe I make for my sons prescool classroom as well once in a while as a way to help out. Its also safe to eat for those of you that have toddlers that think everything is food!

  • 3 Cups Flour

  • 1 1/2 cups Salt

  • 3 cups Water

  • 2 TBS Vegetable Oil

  • 1 TBS Cream of tartar Food coloring few drops

Mix ALL of the ingredients in a large saucepan.Cook over medium low heat, until the dough comes away from the edges of the pan and it becomes difficult to move the spoon. Remove from heat. Cool until it can be handled.Place on counter or wax paper knead 3-4 times.Store in an air tight container.

Summer Ice Lollies

If you're looking for something v.easy to make with the kiddies and enjoy, try this:
  • 1xcan lychees in natural juice-
  • juice or 1/4-1/2 lemon to taste

Place lychees and juice in a bowl and blend, pass through sieve to remove bits, add some lemon juice (cuts the sweetness) and place in ice lolly mould, freeze. Makes 6-7 standard ice lollies they are great, no foul colours like store bought lollies so no mess even when they melt everywhere! Enjoy in this heat!
